.SH NAME
lctl-lqa-new \- create a new Lustre Quota ID Aggregate
.SH SYNOPSIS
.SY "lctl lqa new"
.BI --fsname " FSNAME"
.BI --name " LQANAME"
.YS
.SH DESCRIPTION
Create a new Lustre Quota ID Aggregate (LQA) with the name
.I LQANAME
in the filesystem named
.IR FSNAME .
The
.B lctl lqa new
command must be run on the MDS0 node by the root user.
.P
An LQA is a quota aggregation mechanism that enables two levels of
administrative control. It allows setting quota limits on ranges of Project
IDs (ProjIDs), User IDs (UIDs), or Group IDs (GIDs). The range quota is
independent from quotas on individual IDs within that range. When both a
range quota (LQA) and individual ID quotas exist, whichever limit is reached
first is enforced.
.P
LQAs are particularly useful for multitenancy use-cases where:
.RS
.IP \(bu 2
Filesystem administrators set aggregate quotas on ID ranges (LQAs)
.IP \(bu 2
Tenant administrators can manage individual ID quotas within their assigned
range
.IP \(bu 2
The aggregate limit acts as a hard cap on total usage for all IDs in the range
.RE
.P
.B LQANAME
must consist only of uppercase and lowercase letters, digits, and underscores.
The maximum length is 15 characters.
.P
After creating the LQA and adding ranges, set the aggregate limit with
.BR "lfs setquota --lqa" .
For example, use
.BR "lfs setquota -P --lqa LQANAME"
to set project aggregate limits for the LQA.
.SH EXAMPLES
Create an LQA for a tenant in a multitenancy environment:
.EX
mds0# lctl lqa new --fsname lfs02 --name tenant1
mds0# lctl lqa add --fsname lfs02 --name tenant1 --range 100000-199999
mds0# lfs setquota -P --lqa tenant1 -b 900G -B 1T /mnt/lfs02
.EE
.PP
After creating the LQA, use
.B lctl lqa add
to add ID ranges and
.BR lfs-setquota (1)
to set the aggregate limit.
